Line Cook
First Course NYC is a job training program for Restaurant Cooks.
January 10 (supporting info sessions Jan 12 & 19)
February 7 (supporting info sessions Feb 9 & 16)
This 14-week program includes eight weeks of classroom kitchen training delivered by experienced chefs, followed by six weeks of on-the-job training in respected New York City restaurants.
Program Features
- Eight weeks of free, hands-on culinary training led by an experienced NYC chef
- Weekly MetroCard and weekly stipend of $355 (during classroom training)
- Earn the NYC Food Protection Certificate
- Six weeks of paid ($16/hour), on-the-job training
- Connection to full-time employment as a restaurant line cook
Requirements
- 18 or older
- New York City resident
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Registered for Selective Service (if applicable)
- Make no more than $50,000 annually
- This program require that all apprentices receive the COVID-19 vaccination
