Line Cook

First Course NYC is a job training program for Restaurant Cooks. 


January 10 (supporting info sessions Jan 12 & 19)

February 7 (supporting info sessions Feb 9 & 16)

This 14-week program includes eight weeks of classroom kitchen training delivered by experienced chefs, followed by six weeks of on-the-job training in respected New York City restaurants.  

Program Features

  • Eight weeks of free, hands-on culinary training led by an experienced NYC chef
  • Weekly MetroCard and weekly stipend of $355 (during classroom training)
  •  Earn the NYC Food Protection Certificate
  • Six weeks of paid ($16/hour), on-the-job training 
  • Connection to full-time employment as a restaurant line cook

Requirements

  •  18 or older
  • New York City resident
  •  Authorized to work in the United States
  • Registered for Selective Service (if applicable)
  • Make no more than $50,000 annually
  • This program require that all apprentices receive the COVID-19 vaccination
